FAQ

What is LOWCRC? The Lake of the Woods Community RC Club is a general RC hobby club for all ages and experience levels, focused on fun, education, and community involvement with RC planes, drones, cars, and more.
Do I need to live in Lake of the Woods to join? No! While our events are hosted within Lake of the Woods, anyone willing to participate respectfully and regularly is welcome. You will need to have a resident sponsor for LOW guest access.
I’m brand new to RC—can I still join? Definitely! LOWCRC is beginner-friendly and offers support for those just getting started. We’re here to help you learn and grow!
What kinds of RC models are allowed? We support a wide variety: fixed-wing planes, drones, helicopters, cars, trucks, crawlers, and boats. Just be sure your model meets our safety guidelines.
Are there age restrictions? All ages are welcome! Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during events.
Is it safe? Do I need insurance? Yes—safety is a priority. We follow AMA and FAA rules, and encourage AMA membership for liability coverage. We also abide by LOW community regulations.
Where do you meet? We primarily fly and drive at the Sweetbriar Park Soccer Fields. Other locations may be used with proper permissions.

Can I participate in events without being a member? Some open events may allow visitors, but regular participation, especially with RC aircraft, requires club and AMA membership for safety and insurance reasons.
What support is available? We offer mentoring, build help, safety guidance, and family-friendly events to promote learning and fun. We’re here to help you succeed!
